There are certain documents that must be in your car at all times, including your driver’s license and registration certificate. The circulation permit is a little 4-page booklet with green pages that includes important information such as, registration validity, date and place of expedition, and brand and variant or version.
For used vehicles from a different country, this information will only be on your registration when it appears on the original vehicle documentation.
A question most people ask is whether they can just have a photocopy of the registration certificate and leave the physical copy at home. It is mandatory to have the original copy of the document, but you can circulate with a certified photocopy of the permit.
If you do not have a permanently registered vehicle, you can circulate with a provisional circulation permit.
Lost Documents
You can ask for a duplicate registration certificate by using the website, face-to-face, calling the office, or by mail. Depending on your mode of communication you might need specific documents to get a replacement. This process will also cost a fee of 20 euros, which is the same price as when you renew the form anyway.
